I recently had the pleasure of staying at a delightful home stay (Shalom) in Madurai, and it was an experience to cherish. The warm hospitality of the hosts made me feel like a part of their family. The location of the Shalom home stay was conveniently close to major attractions like the Meenakshi Amman Temple and the bustling markets. The rooms were spacious, clean. The comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep, and the modern amenities like air conditioning and Wi-Fi added to the convenience. Food as simply outstanding! I relished every meal enjoying the authentic flavors and a variety of dishes.If you want to taste Anglo - Indian food then one must come here! What truly made this home stay worthwhile was the genuine care and warmth of the hosts, Mr. Ian and Mrs.Cheryl. During my stay, I had the opportunity to learn about Madurai's rich culture and heritage from the knowledgeable hosts, who shared fascinating insights. I had stayed for 2 nights with some of my colleagues. It’s a great place to stay.Location is good and the rooms are very well maintained. Owners are extremely friendly. Excellent experience with Pleasant Tours in South India We have recently completed an unforgettable trip through South India with Pleasant Tours, organised together with Ian, and we could not be happier with the experience. From the very beginning, Ian was extremely helpful, attentive and flexible, helping us organise a wonderful itinerary through some of the most fascinating places in South India: Kochi, Alleppey, Munnar, Thekkady, Madurai, Chettinad, Kanyakumari and Kovalam. One of the highlights of our trip was also spending two nights at Ian's home, where he and his charming wife welcomed us with great warmth and made us feel completely at home. Their house has three guest rooms, and staying there gave us a much more personal and authentic experience. We really enjoyed the time we spent with them and will remember their kindness and hospitality. Our driver was also excellent. He was always polite, professional, punctual and very careful on the road, which made the many journeys between destinations comfortable and stress-free. Another thing we particularly appreciated was the possibility of having local guides in the different regions, whenever we wanted. This allowed us to understand much better the history, culture, traditions and particularities of each place we visited. The itinerary was especially memorable because we were able to experience some very special events, including the Nehru Trophy Boat Race in Alleppey and the Onam celebrations, as well as the tea plantations of Munnar, Periyar and its wildlife, traditional Kalaripayattu martial arts, Kathakali, the temples of Madurai, the fascinating heritage of Chettinad and the beautiful landscapes of Kanyakumari and Kovalam. As this was our third trip to India, we already knew and loved the country, but this journey allowed us to discover a completely different side of India through the culture, landscapes and traditions of the South. We would highly recommend Pleasant Tours and Ian to anyone looking for a well-organised, personal and authentic journey through South India. Their professionalism, flexibility and, above all, their warm hospitality made our trip truly special. Thank you very much, Ian and family, for making our journey such a wonderful experience.
